Roast Timer is a timing calculator that runs in your browser. This page explains the two things that do involve data: what the site stores on your own device, and what Google's advertising collects.

What the planner itself collects

Nothing. Your meat, weight, sides and serving time are used to work out the schedule on your own device. They are never transmitted to us, and there is no account, login or sign-up form on the site.

Two things are saved locally, in your browser's own storage, and never leave it:

If you share a plan, the selections travel in the link itself. Nothing is stored on our side to make that work.

Visitor statistics

We count visits using Cloudflare Web Analytics, which was chosen specifically because it does not track people. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not build a fingerprint or profile, so it cannot follow you to any other site. That is also why it needs no consent prompt - there is nothing stored on your device to ask permission for.

What it records is a page view: the address of the page, the site that referred you if any, your country, and rough device and browser type, plus page-speed measurements. Worth knowing if you share a plan: the selections in a share link are part of the web address, so an address of that shape can appear in those page-view statistics. It still is not tied to you - there is no identifier attached to it.

Advertising

The adverts on this site are supplied by Google AdSense, and they are what pays for the hosting. Google and its partners may set cookies or read device identifiers to measure ads and, where you have agreed to it, to personalise what you are shown. Google's own explanation of that is in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Because most visitors here are in the UK and Europe, a consent prompt appears before any advertising cookie is set. You can decline personalised advertising and still use every part of the planner - it is not conditional on consent, and declining does not change the timings you get.

Affiliate links

The "kit that actually helps" section links to Amazon. If you buy something after following one, this site earns a small commission and you pay exactly the same price. Following a link hands you over to Amazon, who set their own cookies under their own privacy policy - we are not told who clicked, only how many sales resulted.

The recommendations are not paid placements and nobody has been given the chance to buy their way onto that list.

Changing your mind

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or erase personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. This site keeps no records that identify you: the visitor statistics are aggregate and carry no identifier, so there is nothing in them to look up or delete for an individual. Requests relating to advertising data are best directed to Google. If you want to raise something with us, use the contact address below.
